Abstract
Effects of a posttrial injection of nembutal, chlorpromazine, or metrazol on classically conditioned fear was examined in 162 rats. Evidence of amnesia was observed when seizures were induced by metrazol immediately following the conditioning trial. Amnesia was not produced by other drugs, by subconvulsive doses of metrazol, or by metrazol seizures induced 24 hr. after training. When present, amnesia was still evident 1 wk. later. These results are consistent with a consolidation hypothesis. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)Keywords
