Abstract
Methods for the determination of the vegetable content of scoured wool are discussed and a new method, utilising flotation and density gradient techniques is described. The method is absolute in so far as the complete sample is recovered after separation and no component suffers degradation, but it is applicable only to material that has been reduced to a finely divided state by some mechanical device (e.g., a rotary cutter). The accuracy claimed is at least ± 0.5%.Keywords
