Abstract
In patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis prednisolone was added in anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy. Patients treated with corticosteroids showed significantly more clearing of the roentgenogram of the chest than did the control group. Likewise, steroid therapy was associated with more rapid clinical improvement. However, at the end of 6 mo. there was no significant difference between the roentgenograms in the 2 groups, and extensive pulmonary function studies revealed pulmonary fibrosis and uneven ventilation-perfusion ratios in the lungs which were approximately similar in the 2 groups. Keywords
