Abstract
The stratotype of the Teurian Stage was designated in Te Uri Stream, on the flank of the Whangai Range, in Porangahau Survey District by Finlay and Marwick (1947). Finlay based his studies of the Foraminifera at this locality mainly on samples collected by geologists of N.Z. Oil Exploration Ltd. in 1938 and the lowest Teurian sample from which he was able to extract planktonic Foraminifera was HU9 (Nl50/f513) from above the prominent greensand, 20 ft above the base of the Teurian Stage. Keywords
