Abstract
A representation of the free energy for the phi 6 theory in the range n limit is given in terms of the non-linear scaling fields. This is particularly useful for the study of the first-order transition in a tricritical system. In agreement with the picture of Nienhuis et al. (1976) the coexistence curve is characterised as a renormalisation group trajectory by the vanishing of a non-linear scaling field. Keywords
