Abstract
Binding energies of hypernuclei are calculated with use of accurate variational methods for , with effective interaction calculations for , and with Fermi hypernetted-chain variational calculations for . Effective interactions and variational results agree within a few percent. For forces consistent with scattering, agreement with the experimental energies is obtained with strongly repulsive Wigner type forces, and for also with a weakened -state strength about half that of the -state strength.
