Collisional relaxation from the v3 vibration of CO2

Abstract
Using fluorescence observations from a carbon dioxide sample illuminated by a laser, the time for relaxation from v3 vibration in pure carbon dioxide has been measured as 36 ± 02 μs at atmospheric pressure and 293 °k. This agrees with other published measurements using the same method. The variation of relaxation time with temperature and that appropriate to CO2-O2 collisions have also been measured.
