Abstract
Four models are examined which attempt to describe wind fluctuations in relation to a wind energy conversion system (WECS) that is subjected to these fluctuations observed from a fixed location within the atmospheric boundary layer. The primary purpose of this examination is to provide a basis for understanding present and future developments in gust and gust-rise models. The examination is accomplished by identifying the gust definitions used in the models and relating them to a basic definition given. Keywords
