Abstract
Among the sources of bioactive metabolites, less intensively investigated organisms like the higher fungi seem to hold an excellent promise for new structures with interesting biological activities. In the last decades interesting compounds of different biogenetic origin with antibacterial, antifungal, phytotoxic, nematocidal, cytostatic, antiviral, and other pharmacological activities were isolated from basidiomycetes. In the following review we will concentrate on metabolites isolated from submerged cultures. Keywords
