Abstract
Harpella melusinae is common and widespread in the U. S., and has been found attached to the peritrophic membrane of at least 9 spp. of Simulium and Prosimulium larvae. Zygospores similar to those of other Harpellales have been found, and thus doubt is cast on previous reports of atypical sexual processes. The asexual spore appendages can be seen in phase contrast to have finely spaced transverse striations that differentiate them from spore appendages of other Harpellales. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
