Subunit Structure of Legumin-like Globulins of Fagus sylvatica Seeds

Abstract
The 11S (legumin-like) globulins, which are the major seed proteins of Fagus sylvatica L., have been isolated and characterized. The subunit structure of the 280 kD oligomers was investigated using different two-dimensional electrophoretic methods. Such a structure is within the accepted model for this type of protein. However, an acidic polypeptide with 20 kD was found not to be covalently linked to any other component of the oligomers.
