Abstract
What consequences does detention have for the prisoner's wife? The experiences of partners of prisoners have been a subject of a pilot study. The results were analyzed according to a role transitions model. What role transitions does the wife go through, what strain does the transition entail and how does the woman react to them? The model turns out to be useful but not complete, as the women's experiences also include reactions that do not fit into the model, such as stigmatization. Keywords
