Modelling of real systems based on measuring results

Abstract
An extended version of a method for measuring the performance of real digital systems implemented with finite wordlength is described. The method yields the complex frequency response and the power density spectrum of the noise, due to the wordlength reduction after arithmetic operations. Based on these results, two rational transfer functions are calculated, yielding a model of the two properties and thus an identification, of the system investigated.<>
