Experimental Type Transformation of Shigella paradysenteriae (Flexner)

Abstract
By growing 5. paradysenteriae in filtrates from Flexner strains of a different type, transformation to the type of the strain, from which the filtrate was prepd., could be obtained in 3 out of 225 expts. In one case, mutation of the ability to form indol was found coupled to the induced immunological mutation.
