Abstract
The high rate at which organic matter is added to subtidal sedimentary environments is approximately equaled by the consumer demand, particularly that of the interstitial community which, being responsive to changes in organic input, holds the residual organic matter at a relatively low level. Interrelations between this organic matter utilization by the interstitial community and the physical-chemical features of sediments are discussed. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
