Abstract
A PbSnTe diode laser in a small glass dewar for liquid nitrogen cooling was utilized for observation of absorption lines of methane in the v 4 band around 7.7 µm. Some of the lines were identified and frequency differences between two lines were naeasured as well as the pressure broadening of the lines. The PbSnTe laser was stabilized on one of the methane lines by controlling the laser drive current. Frequency stability of the laser was estimated by Allan variance and the minimum value of 4.3×10-11 was obtained at an averaging time of 15 s.Keywords
