Abstract
A new hexacyclic triterpenoid, mudanpinoic acid A (1), and a new gallic acid glycoside, mudanoside B (2), along with nine known compoundsbenzoic acid, resacetophenone, paeoniflorigenone, β-sitosterol, betulinic acid, oleanoic acid, quercetin, β-sitosterol-β-d-glucoside, and trans-caffeic acid stearyl esterwere isolated from the dried root cortex of Paeoniasuffruticosa. The structures of the novel compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectral methods, and that of compound 1 was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. Keywords
