Abstract
Anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery was observed in 3 patients. In 2, aged 6 and 7 years, the anomaly was of the adult type; the patients were free from symptoms but had continuous murmurs at the left sternal border and mild left ventricular hypertrophy. In the third, aged 16 months, the anomaly was of the infantile type and there were findings of myocardial infarction. Retrograde aortography demonstrated retrograde flow of blood from the right coronary artery to the left, through collaterals, and finally into the pulmonary artery. In the 2 cases of the adult type, ligating the left coronary artery resulted in increased perfusion pressure and flow to the left ventricle. In the infantile case, the collaterals were deficient and the operation was unsuccessful. Keywords
