Abstract
Using a continuum model for the plastic behaviour of a composite material, consisting of a ductile matrix reinforced by strong fibres, cylindrically symmetric deformations of a fibre reinforced material are considered. The kinematics and constitutive equations for the deformation are developed and then applied to cases of shearing and torsional deformations. The latter is employed in the analysis of the deformation of a thin-walled cylindrical tube.
