Abstract
Modifications in the talus and the lower end of the tibia, attributed to squatting, have been studied in a series of 300 ankle joints from Indian fetuses. Comparison with findings in European fetuses shows that the incidence of these modifications is not greater in Indian fetuses. It is concluded that the presence of these modifications in Indian fetuses is not an example of the transmission of acquired characters to the offspring.
