Three-prism loss measurements of optical waveguides

Abstract
A new nondestructive method for measuring losses of an optical waveguide is presented. It uses three prisms, which enables the results to be independent of coupling efficiencies in and out of the guide. It requires only small strains on the guide and may be useful for fragile materials.Keywords
