The subjects were asked to report their present euphoria on a +5 and -5 basis. Euphoria was defined as "how well you feel." In the cases of 413 undergraduates, significantly higher euphoria was reported by the women than by the men. This may be correlated with the fact that the average amount of sleep reported by the women was nearly one hour more than that reported by the men. The average euphoria reported by the men for eight or more hours of sleep was greater than the average euphoria for six hours or less. Although these results do not accord with the findings of Cason, the authors believe the discrepancies may be due to differences in technique.
