Abstract
At room temperature, the x-ray diffraction pattern of NH4Br exhibits six systems of diffuse rods parallel to the six face diagonals of a cube. Due to the lack of the rods in the coordinate planes of the reciprocal lattice, it may be concluded that they originate from the shifting of the bromide ions in the direction of the coordinate axes. As the temperature approaches that of the transition point at 235 K, the diffuse scatterings concentrate around the points h + ½, k + ½, l, at which superlattice peaks appear at a lower temperature. Keywords
