Abstract
The central nervous system complications of the hemorrhagic and thrombotic propensities of patients with polycythemia vera are discussed. The symptoms and signs of brain tumor occurring in the patients previously known to have polycythemia vera have many times attributed to polycythemia and its complications. Two patients with known polycythemia were affected by brain tumors developing years after the onset of their blood dyscrasia. It is emphasized that neurologic complaints in patients with polycythemia should be thoroughly investigated before they are diagnosed as due to vascular complications of the original disease. Keywords
