Abstract
Thorough curettage alone was used to treat 214 basal cell epitheliomas (BCE) of 152 patients who were followed up from 6 mo. to 13 yr (the initial 3 were treated 19 yr ago). One hundred sixty-four treated sites were followed for at least 2 yr, 132 for at least 4 yr and 121 for 5 yr or longer. There were 6 treatment failures in the 214 lesions followed to date. Two recurred at 10 mo., 1 at 12 mo. 2 at 20 mo. and 1 at 25 mo. after treatment. If it was carefully done, the curettage alone cure rate compares favorably with other forms of treatment. Curettage is a simple, effective and inexpensive treatment of BCE.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
