Abstract
A review of current literature on total parenteral nutrition is presented. The methods, indications for use, and complications associated with it are discussed, together with a brief review of the major metabolic responses to trauma. The available solutions which are used in parenral nutrition are discussed with special reference to caloric content and metabolic utilization.Keywords
