Abstract
P. semilanceata contains hallucinogenic indole alkaloids and is a narcotic drug that has been abused by humans in Norway. The content of psilocybin, the major constituent in Norwegian P. semilanceata, was investigated as were its habitats and its distribution throughout the country. The mushroom grows on grassy sites in most parts of Norway from the middle of Aug. to the middle of Oct. The psilocybin content in dried mushrooms varied considerably, from 0.17-01.96%. The highest concentrations in percent were found among the smaller mushrooms; the content in milligrams was highest in larger mushrooms. The content of psilocybin makes P. semilanceata a potent hallucinogenic drug. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
