Abstract
A simplified procedure for preparing alkene iodohydrins has been developed utilizing olefin diiodide, aqueous acetone, and hydrogen peroxide. It was learned in this work that, contrary to general information in the literature, lower alkenes and iodine react quickly and essentially completely in a liquid phase at room temperature to give the diiodide. Keywords
