A Task for Evaluation of Articulation Change: 1. Development of Methodology

Abstract
Seven subjects with consistent misarticulations of the same three phonemes were provided speech instruction for the phoneme [s]. A 60-item sound production task was administered to each subject prior to the first teaching session and at every second session throughout the course of instruction. Subjects made articulation improvement on the sound taught, [s], and its cognant, [z], but not on the phonetically dissimilar sound, [r].
