Reversion and re-ageing in an alznmg alloy

Abstract
Reversion and re-ageing processes in an Al-1·4 at. % Zn-2·7 at. % Mg alloy are investigated by resistivity measurements. Above 155°C the zones produced by ageing at room temperature quickly dissolve and a measurable amount of precipitate builds up only after a longer period of heat treatment, suggesting the occurrence of true reversion. The re-ageing characteristics of reverted specimens also provide evidence of true reversion.
