Abstract
A crystalline antibacterial substance isolated from apple leaves has been identified as phloretin. It inhibits the growth of a number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and is bacteriostatic in concns. as low as 30 ppm. Its antibacterial action may be related to inhibition of the uptake of P by the bacterial cell. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
