Abstract
Running time for repeated alley runs by hamsters to end boxes containing (a) nothing , (b) a constant set of objects, or (c) a changing set of objects was in the order a>b>c: thus, novelty appeared reinforcing. Length of intersession interval (2, 24, 48 hr) affected only Condition b: thus, "deprivation of novelty" did not increase its incentive strength. Keywords
