Abstract
In this report the results of the various investigations which have been undertaken, together with those reported to this Commission by other observers, have been incorporated in one article. The material has been to some extent condensed and summarized in order to eliminate unnecessary details, which can be found by those interested in the detailed report made to the Governor of Illinois. This detailed report will be published shortly in the form of a monograph and copies sent to all important libraries in the United States. At this point we wish to express our acknowledgments to those who have so materially helped in the compilation of this report by sending us personal communications. They include Captains J. F.
