Abstract
This paper provides a general description of the concepts, hardware and programs of the basic system of automatic cartography designed by the University of Saskatchewan for the Canadian Hydrographie Service. The basic system includes an automatic drafting system and a semi-manual digitizing unit. Also described are additions to the basic system which, during the development, have shown themselves to be important and which have been experimentally examined for feasibility. These additions include an interactive display system to be used in computer-aided compilation and in data-base incorporation, an extended digitization system, a visual monitoring system and typed output facility. Keywords
