Abstract
The absorption of Mo by cotton, its distr. within the plant, and the tolerance of cotton to relatively high concns. of Mo in sand cultures are discussed. In nutrient treatments containing 35 ppm. of Na2Mo04.2H20 the leaves of cotton plants contained 1585 ppm. Mo (dry weight). The stems, roots, and fruiting bodies contained approx. one-fifth as much Mo as did the leaves. During the course of the investigation it was noted that the incidence of Ascochyta leaf spot was directly correlated with the Mo level of the substrate. Reductions in fresh and dry weight of the cotton plants were noted at the higher levels of Mo (25 and 35 ppm.); however, the reductions were small, indicating a rather high tolerance of cotton to this element. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
