Abstract
The author compared the Ziehl-Neelsen and the fluorescence microscopy methods for the detection of acid-fast bacilli in pathologic material. He concludes that the fluorescence microscopy method is preferable since the organisms can be detected in a field of considerably greater volume than is covered using the Ziehl-Neelsen method. The technic of the fluorescence microscopy is described. Keywords
