Abstract
The cytogenetic relationship in a number of New World Hordeum species has been studied, and reported in this paper. A close relationship was found between H. jubatum and three hexaploid species H. arizonicum, H. lechleri, and H. hexaploidum. It has also been shown that H. californicum was probably one of the progenitors of H. jubatum which previously was found to be conspecific with H. brachyantherum. There was no indication of close relationship between H. pusillum and H. jubatum and between H. pusillum and H. californicum. However, evidence of homoeology was shown between the genomes of H. pusillum and H. californicum. A tentative designation of the genomes of species in the jubatum group was proposed. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
