Abstract
Data on the electronic, i.r., Raman, e.s.r., and mass spectra, and magnetochemistry of the compounds M(S2CNEt2)4(M = Ti, V, or Zr), V(S2CNEt2)3, VO(S2CNEt2)3, and VO(S2CNEt2)2 are reported and discussed. It is deduced that the compound V(S2CNEt2)4, which readily dissociates on heating to V(S2CNEt2)3, is eight-co-ordinate (dodecahedral). The electronic and anisotropic e.s.r. spectra of the compound V(S2CNEt2)4 are interpreted in terms of crystal-field splitting of d orbitals in the V4+ ion. Keywords
