Abstract
A systematic classification is made of all local Lorentz‐invariant quantized fieldtheories which are free in the sense that [ψ(x),ψ(x′)] is a c number. It is shown that none exist except those given in the classical paper of Fierz, and that, in fact, certain of the fields listed by Fierz are redundant. Keywords
