Abstract
Herholdt, J. J. 1988. The distribution of Stanley's and Ludwig's Bustards in southern Africa: a review. Ostrich 59:8-13. Stanley's and Ludwig's Bustards cause many problems in identification in the field. Misidentification over a long period has led to the bustards being recorded in areas where they have never occurred and thus created a false impression of their status and distribution. Ludwig's Bustard occurs in the dry western parts of southern Africa and is much more common than Stanley's Bustard which prefers the warm temperate eastern parts of the region. Keywords
