Abstract
Five transportation media were compared with Thayer-Martin medium (TM) for the isolation of N. gonorrhoeae: cystine trypticase agar (CTA), Transgrow, Amies, Stuart’s and Culturettes. When held for 24 hours before culturing, the CTA medium showed a loss of 7%, Transgrow 8%, Amies 28%, Stuart’s 44% and Culturettes 79%. When transportation media were held for 48 hours before culturing on TM medium the loss for Transgrow was 15%, CTA 33%, and Amies 59.8%.Keywords
