Climate and Health

Abstract
Climate change and associated extreme weather events, such as Hurricane Mitch, can have profound public health and economic consequences. [Epstein][1] discusses in his Perspective how climate change and severe weather events are making a large impact on emerging infectious diseases. He examines how data on changes in climate can be used to better forecast disease outbreaks ([ Linthicum et al .][2]), allowing time for preventative action such as vaccination of livestock.
