Abstract
Pure cultures of Chlorella sp. and Scenedesmus costulatus var. chlo-relloides inoculated into soil partially sterilized by heat are able to increase as much as 500-fold with incubation at room temp. in total darkness for long periods of time. This offers added evidence that soil is a habitat for certain green algae, and that algae multiply in soil under conditions of darkness and of moderate moisture. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
