Abstract
This introduction to the Symposium deals briefly with problems of transport of sugars, amino acids, and ascorbic acid at the cell membrane, with the bearing of energetics on transport processes, with exchange diffusion, the influence of cationic equilibria on transport reactions, and with the effects of modification of the cell membrane on cell metabolism. Keywords
