Abstract
A semiconductor optical amplifier detector with an improved responsivity, obtained using two contacts is demonstrated. It is shown that up to 16dB improvement in detected output voltage may be obtained for a semiconductor optical amplifier with an internal gain of 30dB. Initial experimental results showing a 4dB improvement are presented.Keywords
