Cystic Fibrosis in an Oriental Child

Abstract
CYSTIC fibrosis is a genetic disease transmitted as an autosomal recessive trait. The disease is mainly found in Caucasians.1 The statistical data of the National Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation in 19672 indicated that 98.4 per cent of patients known to have cystic fibrosis were Caucasians, 1.4 per cent were American Negroes, and only 0.2 per cent were of other races. None were Orientals.This paper reports the occurrence of cystic fibrosis in an Oriental girl. Her father came from Korea, and her mother from Okinawa.
