Abstract
This paper presents a working model of APL syntax and semantics that incorporates explicit representations of functions, operators, and syntax, thus providing a basis for the clear and explicit statement of extended facilities in the language, as well as a tool for experimentation upon them. Use of the model is illustrated in the treatment of the syntax of operators, and in the discussion of a number of new or recently-proposed facilities including indirect assignment, the operators axis, derivative, inverse, and til, and the functions link, and from. The entire model is included in an appendix. Keywords
