Abstract
The effects of a surface on the static spin susceptibility of an exchange-enhanced paramagnet are calculated in the random-phase approximation, where effects due to reflection of electrons from the surface are included in the effective interaction. It is found that the enhancement of the susceptibility close to the surface may be greater than that in the bulk for what appear to be reasonable choices of the parameters characterizing the surface reflection terms in the effective interaction. Keywords
