LSD-LIKE DELIRIUM FOLLOWING INGESTION OF A SMALL AMOUNT OF ITS BROM ANALOG (BOL-148)

Abstract
The ingestion of 0.5 mg of 2-bromo-d-lysergic acid dyethylamide, (BOL-148) by a 28-year-old male laboratory worker resulted in an LSD-like delirium. It was accompanied by elevated blood pressure, rapid pulse and respirations and distorted perceptions of his environment. The subject was also extremely anxious. The effects of both of these agents (LSD and BOL-148) are similar to those of a toxic delirium or acute exogenous reaction. The hypothesis that the agents are dissimilar in regard to psychic effects but similar in regard to all other antisero-tonin reactions must be revised. It is likely that they are different only in degree.
