Abstract
With Conotrachelus nenuphar the length of the egg laying and larvae feeding periods and the number of larvae that become adults vary greatly from season to season because of variable weather conditions. In control expts., benzene hexachloride proved more effective than lead arsenate but was not as effective over as long a period. 3 lbs. of benzene hexachloride (6% gamma isomer)/100 gal., used in 5 applications at 10-day intervals beginning at petal-fall, caused no fruit tainting.
